Hey Lads,

Here in the Bay Area........there is a "ride" that's been a Sunday tradition since 1958(?). I used to go on this ride quite a bit in the 80s, but me and my buddies finally stopped going to the ever increasing squid factor. The Bay Area is LOADED with fantastic roads/rides.......this is a good one. It starts in Marin County in the town of Mill Valley. Every Sunday at 7am.......be at the Tam Junction gas station.......and head out to the Marin Coast and countryside......into Sonoma county. I've been trying to find a VHS that was done of this ride....I used to have it, or a buddy did.......I'll keep looking. Anyway......here's a video of SOME of that ride. Unfortunately, some of the really nice, scenic parts of the ride aren't on this video. I'll see if I can find some others. This ride in on California Hwy 1.......the coastal highway, the northern section of what you have down in Carmel, Big Sur.

Good Music! TURN THE SPEAKERS UP!!

I've ridden the roads but never on the official ride (and at 7AM I still wouldn't today!). Good roads.

My moto-journo buddy Jerry Smith used to go on that ride in the 70's (late) or maybe the early 80's. Who was the one-legged AFM guy who used to do that ride all the time? You should remember him Grey!

Very short video, with OLD footage (dirt road Hwy 1) and brief footage at Tam Junction gathering spot.

This is the Sunday Morning Ride route.....but not THE RIDE. This footage starts right across the street from the gas station at Tam Junction and out to Muir Beach. Please note....about the 1:30 mark there's a slow hairpin turn to the left (cars in front)....from that point on it gets really good. It's funny but that hairpin turn is uphill and first gear, but this video is weird for me to watch because the camera is helmet mounted and the perspective is odd. Perhaps it is the lense on the camera too.

Now...think about 100+ bikes doing this road on a Sunday Morning 7am. You DON'T want to live near that road! Hahaha. A special note of interest for you. After that 1:30 mark....note the trees on the side of the road. Those are eucalyptus tress. If you don't know anything about eucalyptus trees....they weep sap. Now think about riding THAT narrow road.....in the early AM....when it's a foggy morning and the road is damp....with the added sappy eucalyptus factor.......OH FUN!! Done that hundreds of times.
