Yep... although I saw Nicky's bike belching smoke several times throughout QP. Anyone hear WTF on that issue? I was watching a Portuguese feed, so I have no idea what was going on...Did Rossi finally out-qualify Hayden?

I think Rossi would have qualified better but he was spending some serious time with the hard rear tyre. He was using it yesterday as well and nobody else was. It's a toss up on which rear they will go with and this could be the key factor for the race tomorrow (not for Rossi but for ped, sto, lor, spi, cru). Pedrosa, due to his weight, might be able to make the softer option rear last the length of the race. Going to be a hard pick between tyres for all the riders.

Yeah, he managed to beat his teammate once out of 3 attempts. The stuff heroes are made of

9 titles. That's what heroes are made of. Don't you start denying history too.
I'm not denying history - I'm referring to the present. Rossi was unbelievable for a decade, but he is quite believable now. I have no doubt that on a different bike he would be a different rider, but he isn't too impressive on a Ducati - at least not yet.
He summed it up himself - paraphrasing, but he said he felt like a motorcycle racer today - a slow one.

If you read GPWeek they explained Hayden's issues - no way was he going to make a good showing yesterday.

Lots of interesting shit here.

Has Ducati finally caved in and started to listen? Laguna is half season and a ways away. Better than no updates at least. 1.5 years gone to "testing".

Preziosi has caved, finally.
Here is the video version..
http://www.motogp.co...post Estoril GP
“We believe that a bike Valentino likes, is a good bike for all riders,” he said. “We are following the direction he suggests at the best of our capability, which is not enough right now to be faster than Honda. But for sure we will try in the direction that Valentino shows us.”
In terms of machine set-up, Preziosi said that Rossi and crew chief Jerry Burgess always have the final say.
“We give Jeremy 100% freedom to define with Valentino what the best set-up is. As Ducati, our duty is just to supply material.
“We can suggest what our ideas are, but the final decision, day by day, practice by practice, is made by Jeremy speaking with Valentino."

Yeah Ducati stubbornly only built about 6 completely new frames for Rossi including a switch to aluminium twin spar for the first time in the company's history. Damn sticks in the mud!

Dovisioso "I saw Stoner's telemetry, and his throttle control is incredibly delicate. He also uses very little traction control."
