I wish I was around when superbikes weren't really "super".
I also like Lawson's description of his 500 days..."stupid", he says.

Kneel down, ye sinners,
To streetwise religion,
Greed's been crowned the new King
Hollywood dream teens, yesterdays trash queens,
save the blessing for the final ring,

Fucking lawyers... Uses the last minute and a half of that video to advertise...
As I'm sure I've said plenty of times. The first live-in-the-flesh road racing I saw was the '82 Daytona Superbike race. The Eddie and Freddie (Spencer) show. Lots of "burning tires" going on there.
I loved his description of the modern bikes, "computer generated guided missiles" (or similar).

Today's bikes are girly compared to what Lawson rode.

1,000 - he said 9-12. But yeah, the only 250 I ever rode, an old G model, was noting, nothing, nothing, SOMETHING. I give myself great credit in that I didn't stall it (like everyone else who tried it).

Last time I checked the modern GP bikes start their power band at 9500! I cannot imagine trying to ride something like that.
"There's only two types of guitarists around today. There are those who admit being influenced by Jimi Hendrix, and those who try to pretend they aren't. We will never again see anyone like him, and I was blessed and privileged to know him and have played with him for the time that I did."

Similar interview with Rainey and the Human Scotch Egg:
Bit long...nearly 40 minutes...good interview, with some comments from Wayne on today's bikes, American talents, and Simoncelli's talent...it was recorded before Sic's passing, FYI.

Thanks for that Minno, good interview. He doesn't look a day older than when I saw him at that Suzuka GP in '93 (the only one I had a V.I.P. pass for and the only time I got to see him race live).
And I love his view of what needs to be done to the bikes now... take off the gizmos.
