Since we lost this man...

I think his death is the earliest event of my life that I can say "I remember exactly were I was when..." (I was 6 and a half)

I have followed and also attended F-1 races since the 80's.I remember watching the race on TV and after seeing the accident and him in the cockpit unconscious I knew it wasn't good. When they announced his death later on it was like WTF? They had just finished talking about Ratzenberger's death the day before.

Probably the most sensational moment in motorsports history. It impacted EVERYTHING. I too, remember, although very vaguely, the news report, and my father's shocked reaction, and he's not an F1 fan, even in the very least.

But, many people forget about Roland...we cannot forget about him.

Roland should have been enough for us all to stand back and think - but it was only Senna's who name was big enough for change.

I had a bad feeling from the moment they banned Active Suspension that something bad was going to happen - and I was right.

I remember the argument about keeping it! It seems that subject never gets mentioned Dan.The cars monocoques were not as protective as they are now. Isn't that when they first tried toget tethered wheels added as mandatory?

The documentary that came out last year was excellent about Senna. He was a hard charger and one of the greats. Listening to some of the current Premaddonas in GP about Hard Passing just makes me respect folks like Senna even more. RIP!

I was with Tetsu and a few other riding buddies on a ferry to Kyushu. We'd just loaded our bikes and went into the passenger room when it came over the TV. We were all pretty numb for throughout the voyage and our touring in Kyushu was overshadowed by it the entire time.

Sure doesn't seem like it's been 18 years though.

I was in British Columbia on my honeymoon, the day after I got married when I heard the news.

I was surreal news. And still a great loss.

At least it wasn't your wedding day... Close enough to remind you though I'm sure. :(

My wedding day, OTOH was picked so I wouldn't forget it. 7 December... and yes, hostilities have ensued since. ;)

It's the drugs, Hugo. Well, that and the fact that he's well within the age of senility... ;)
