Repsol may only have to sponsor one bike next year if Marquez is to get his own team/sponsorshop/factory honda.

More whinging of the same variety:

http://www.gpone.com...a-famiglia.html

This quote just makes me laugh:

The biggest mistake was the switch to 800cc engines - the Australian opined - The return to 1000cc was to be expected, especially because it's a more attractive displacement for the manufacturers. But the important thing is to stop changing the rules, because it's costing the manufacturers a fortune. In turn, they then pass some of those expenses down to the private teams with the high leasing costs."

Someone needs to tell him his employer was the one pushing the change. I find it extremely puzzling that someone in his camp hasn't explained this to him. It makes him look like a fool for saying things like this.

I don't think that he is excluding his employer from the issue, and in this situation I think that he is absolutely correct.

I agree. The constant rule changes are what keeps eating the money. Why would anyone not already in the series bother to join? You'll spend millions developing a bike and then the year you introduce it the rules change. Even now they're talking about introducing a rev limit on 2014 or 2015. If you were BMW right now, what kind of motor would you design if you wanted to enter in 2013? One that is competitive that year and will be instantly obsolete or one that will get beaten and ridiculed in its first season and then not be able to attract a top rider?

One reason the last seasons of the 990s were so great was that the rules were stable. Even Suzuki was getting it together at the end.

He is blaming DORNA for it and at which time the MSMA was making the rules, not DORNA, and in this case, specifically, his present Employer. Bitching about rule changes that your own employer made and is subsequently bitching about the cost now, well forgive me if I don't find all of it a gas.

I dont see anything wrong with what he said. He makes perfect sense - one of the reasons 500s were so cheap is because the formula never drastically changed for decades.

Nah, crash.net said a bunch of folks put soft tires on for some fast laps. That's why the order is all goofy in fp2.

Yeah, but remember we brought this up (so did all the riders) years ago.

Not to mention that 2 strokes were/are infinitely simpler engines/machines than 4 strokes.

But the fact that the formula had reached its technical end. 500 2T had gone as far as it could. I might be flying in the face of public opinion but I wasn't sad to see the back of them. The first couple of years of 4T were as good as they've ever been.

Not as good as they've ever been, but it was good.

I'm sorry to see the end of 2 strokes because we have arrived at the expected point - ridiculously expensive racing. That and the weight are my biggest complaints. Ridiculously expensive pigs.

Who's to say the 990s wouldnt be close to that now though? It has cost MotoGP infinitely more to change formulae twice especially during a time of economical hardship like we're at right now. I think Casey's point is that the cost of bikes (and subsequent availability thanks to the changes in regularion) has meant that Dorna had to go production rather than prototype to fill our the grid because customer bikes became as rare as hen's teeth..

500s were through and the time for them to end was right, but the point is that once you had a stable platform in terms of formula with two strokers, you could buy a 500 and go racing. Can you do that now? like fuck.

Which is where the migration to CRT comes in.

The goal of CRT is for the bikes to cost a million Euros - because that is 'cheap' racing.

Given the direction the Euro is going......it might cost less than a million! Hahaha........
