The SPEC ECU is just a way to limit TC. It would actually help Aprilia.

It would be an enormous help to any new team. For that reason the existing factories will fight it to the death.

Yeah right, regulations! They are even running short on funds for WSBK so how could they come up with the resources to build a prototype?
Their sales figures are (like pretty much everyone else) abysmal and Piaggio's business (cash cow of the group) is feeling the pinch as well.

Then it's just an excuse for them not to join up and spend the $ to play in the prototype realm. I hope BMW isn't chicken. CE might find his way back onto a factory team through them.
