First movements of silly season for WSBK in 2013 have kicked off with Checa talking to BMW Italia. They tried to get him before but he stayed with Ducati last season. The team have a decent sponsor for 3 years and they have cash to pay his salary. Fabrizio is out apparently and Badovini isn't safe. It was muted at Le Mans GP event that Ben Spies had also had an approach.

Aoyama is on his way out from Honda. They want someone stronger to team with Rea now that a GP slot is highly unlikely for Johnny. Word is Nicky Hayden has had an offer from two teams in WSBK, one being the Ducati team currently running Checa and Giugliano.

Loris Baz is being considered for a 2013 ride by Kawasaki as a full team rider.

Biaggi is considering another year on his contract with Aprilia.

Randy DePuniet is coming up in dispatches as a possible new signing for the series as the likelihood is he won't get anything other than a CRT again in GP.

Biaggi just notified Aprilia he doesn't want to wait any longer for them to come up with an offer...
It's not a given he'll be staying...

I'd miss him. He gives me someone to root against.

Like I said, Max is considering it as he is considering moving on. He's not retiring. He's made that clear.

Oh, and there could be two Americans in WSBK next year!!

And another....

Andrea Dovizioso may find himself out of a GP ride next year so Aprilia are making moves to get him in their WSBK team.

Biaggi has been asked to wait until September to get it done and he doesn't want to wait.

Dovi out relies on the Rossi to Yamaha rumor, doesn't it? I find that hard but nowhere near impossible to believe, and I find it unfair that Spies goes to Tech 3 over Dovi (in the same scenario) bullshit. Spies doesn't deserve his current ride and doesn't deserve selection over Dovi.

(assuming that any of it is true)

Fairness means nothing when Lin Jarvis wants Yamaha US to not be alienated.

Only so many rides in GP.

Eugene's bike has been 'fixed'. See above.

Regarding Laverty, I read that from Vazy on 'banzai a week ago or so. I'd love to have a more complete understanding of that one.

I would like to know about this alleged situation with Aprilia and Laverty, too. I need ammo against the Biaggi talibans... :D

Laverty got on his bike at the last test, at a track that he had tested on before, and as it was explained told the Aprilia boys that this was not the bike that he tested in preseason (apparently he was both animated and very clear on the point). Suddenly it was discovered that there was a problem with the electronics and he's running with the leaders.

He does not seem to blame Biaggi but it does all look a little shady.

Here's how it factored out in my mind.

1. Yamaha pull out of WSB, Eugene is on the riders market for '12
2. Aprilia want to sign Eugene, a multiple time WSB winner and WSS champion
3. Max gets word (or is told - if his contract stipulates he has a decision in who his team mate is)
4. Max is not happy. He tells Aprilia he isnt happy
5. Image wise, it wouldnt be good to have anyone just plump themselves on the Aprilia and win the title first time around beating their established Italian hero in the process.
6. Image wise, it wouldnt be good to have Aprilia's long standing number 1 rider badmouthing them
7. Aprilia and Max reach a deal - Aprilia sign Laverty, in turn Eugene has "electronical issues" until the time that he cannot mathmatically beat Max in the championship race
8. Eugene and his side of the garage amazingly enough find the resolution to the electronical issues.
9. Fuck me, the same week Eugene finds a fix to his issues they arrive at Aragon, EL fights for wins and the other high profile Aprilia rider Chaz Davies gets his first podium
10...
11. Profit.

Checa has now had talks with both BMW and Kawasaki about next season. It's looking more and more likely that he doesn't want to stay at Ducati and run the Panigale. Names to replace him are Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards or Leon Haslam. Ducati may run Giugliano in a feeder team if two big names want in to that Ducati team.

Whispers are that Leon Haslam won't be at BMW next year, not on the official team anyway.

There could be a chance Rea could be moving on. Honda could be looking for two riders. BMW and Kawasaki are interested.

ParkinGo team could be going with two bikes from next season.

It seems like Biaggi could be on his way to B. Panigale....
