Haha How is that even relevant in a discussion I'm not even involved? I actually think you're right not to have Facebook. If I was a Yank I'd probably walk around with foil on my head!
RE the suspension bit, nice to see you still remember that one. I do too, makes me laugh when I think how stupid my argument was haha
BTW, going back to the topic: I remember reading from more than one source that the US government has the power to scan emails and sms whenever they find there's a reason. Is that still the case?
Our government has built a new data center in Utah. It is a massive undertaking. I used to co-manage a data center so I know a few things about the business. The one they've built (goes live in a few months IIRC) has enough yottabytes of storage to collect every single phone call, SMS, email, google search, URL visited, in the continental US. Also spending habits, financial information. They will gather it all and mine the data as they see fit. It's five times the size of the United States Capitol.

Worry about it? Nah. Just something to be aware of in the grand scheme of things.
Glad to see you come around and see how stupid your argument was.

The Casa is right next to ATX airport. Get yourself a flight on Southwest from Tucson to Austin, they're cheap. And one of us will pick you up at the airport and get you to/from the track. No reason why you can't split on Friday and fly back Sunday night. You won't even miss work. Come see America's greatest roadracing track in history, in person ![]()

I know it is. I think it's a mistake he signed for Ducati. That crash was a Ducati front end crash.
Also, Hugo is right.
So are you gonna harp on this/him every single round like ninja last year. Just so we're clear

Removed the decals on the cans prior to a shakedown run. Have to pull the TTX off this weekend and go down a spring. Rear is a bit too stiff. Sag is too little. Spring swap and I'll get the 30mm I need.

Favorite pic location out in my twisty route:

I"m not disputing that. All I'm saying is, despite the all slagging of that bike, Casey still won races on it, and Nick was really consistent. In 2010, Nicky finished outside of the top 6 only 4 times. Two 7ths, an 8th and a 12th. The rest broke down into a single 3rd place, but 5 4ths, 2 5ths and 3 6ths. I would have to say, that the following year, after Rossi joined the team, his results were much worse. He had only 3 top 6 places, but 7 7th places, 2 8th and a 9th with one finish outside the top ten in 14th. Worse than 2010, but still consistent. This year he's all over the place. Inconsistent. I've been watching Nicky ride since he was a teenager and making all but the very top guys in the AMA look pretty ordinary. One thing he's always been is consistent. This year is the most inconsistent I've ever seen him, barring his first year on what everyone sees as a difficult bike. The only thing I can take from those results is that the machine is not better than the 2010 bike at all......sean
On the 800's Ducati came out swinging. But they did worse every year since 2007, the Japanese catching them then passing them. In 2011 Nicky's finishing time to the leaders doubled, tripled, or quadrupled compared to 2010 through the first 6 races. Yamaha made advances in the offseason and Honda went all in having made 5 chassis in 2010, a million dollar gearbox, stole 2 of Jorge's programmers, you name it. Ducati went backwards as Preziosi tried to fix the front end and failed. Yes Casey won races on it in 2010 but IMO that was against 2010 Hondas and Yamahas. And those wins came with Rossi riding injured, Pedrosa injured, and Jorge's chief having him ride safely to secure the title before pushing that last 10%. I think ever since they went to the CF frame they were doomed. That frame forced a lot of crashes to try and heat the tires.
The telling factor for me was 2010. Rossi missed 4 races due to injury and still placed higher in the championship than Stoner. Pedrosa missed 3 races due to injury and still placed higher in the championship than Stoner. By the time Rossi raced the first race on it they were fucked. With all the shit that guy has taken I think he knows if and when a bike is worth risking his life for. He was never going to go into win or bin mode for the odd podium, especially after a nasty leg break. Again, 2010, Stoner placing where he did with multiple Aliens spending time away and in the hospital, that is clearly the bike at fault. Stoner was 100% right in splitting.
JB's famous comment was taken out of context and he was talking about how long it would take them to fix those issues if it were Rossi's M1. Rossi and Burgess naively believed, that with their experience, and feedback, that the issues with the bike would be fixed once the faults were pinpointed and feedback given. They never were. Every rider who rode that 800 said the front end was vague, had little feeling, and even Capirossi said it was POS, and he had won races for them prior. The last chapter on this story was Preziosi admitting his own failure and trying to hire Masao to try and fix it. I hope he learned something from their meetings because if he continues down the path he's been on for the last several years he'll be out of a job. The Germans will not allow vast sums to be flushed down the toilet with no results. I hope for Andrea and Nicky's sake they get it fixed. I agree that they are stubborn. Yamaha and Honda have proven they will do what it takes to win and make the changes necessary. Ducati, thus far, has been very reluctant to change their design philosophy. The frame change was a necessity for the tires but they are stubborn about the degree of the Vee. The engine is big, blocky, and makes setup changes and weight distribution a PITA. Even mighty Honda admitted failure on electronics and paid large sums to several programmers to get that shit sorted. Ducati must be willing to change their engine angle and even maybe do some R&D with pneumatic valves. At this level you just can't be stubborn. If you are you'll be setback years.

Interesting interview with Kenny Roberts over at cyclenews. He covers a few thoughts about what might improve MotoGP. Interestingly enough, he cites making engines available to teams much like in the Harris/ROC Yamaha days. Link:

What about the argument that these bikes are too powerful not to have electronic rider aids?
Bullshit. That's bullshit in my opinion. That's Bullshit!
Superb Kenny!
